Path of Exile 2 version 0.5 gives the cosmetic wardrobe a serious shake-up, and you can feel it the moment you open the interface. There's a lot to browse, but it doesn't come across as filler. Players who already spend time planning looks around builds, weapons, pets, and PoE 2 Currency will find more room to make a character feel personal. The new batch pushes well past a simple armour dump, with sets, wings, cloaks, helmets, effects, finishers, and a few useful system tweaks all arriving together.

Armour sets with clearer identities
The armour sets are the first thing most players will notice. There are over eighty new cosmetic additions in total, and the full sets do a lot of the heavy lifting. Atlantis leans into a sea-born fantasy, while Arctic Crystal feels colder and sharper, the kind of look that works well on a spellcaster or frost-heavy build. Imperial Eagle goes the other way. It's plated, proud, and made for players who like their exile to look like they walked out of a war banner. Wild is rougher and more primal. Then there are the Supporter Pack exclusives, including Assassin, Chimera, Cursed, Doomguard, Eclipse, Eyrie, and Seeker. These don't just change colours. They change posture, theme, and first impression.

Cloaks, wings, and back pieces matter more than ever
Back attachments have become a big part of how players read a character at a glance. Version 0.5 adds more than thirty choices across cloaks, wings, and special back items, so you're not stuck with one obvious style. Lightbringer Cloak and Wings gives off that bright, almost sacred look. Sunprism is cleaner and more celestial. Sin Cloak and Wings is darker, and yeah, it's likely to be popular with anyone running a grim melee or chaos-themed setup. Cloak fans get solid options too, such as Corsair, Midnight Pact, and Verdant. A few pieces also tell you where they came from, like Azurite as a Challenge Reward and Spider as a Halloween Exclusive, which makes them feel a bit more earned.

Small pieces make mixing easier
The helmet and attachment additions are smaller on paper, but they're the bits players will probably tweak the most. A full armour set can look great, then one hood changes the whole mood. Black and White Hood is simple and easy to pair. Scavenger Hood has that rough, lived-in feeling that suits the harsher side of Wraeclast. Wild Cougar Helmet is more direct, almost tribal. Crest attachments such as Swan and Aquila add another layer without forcing a full costume swap. That's the nice part here. You don't have to wear one complete look from head to toe. You can build something odd, mismatched, and still have it work.

Effects bring the character to life
The extra effects are where the update gets playful. Originator's Character Effect and Awakener's Character Effect add that constant aura around your exile, the kind of thing people notice in town before a map even starts. Chest effects are less serious, and honestly that's welcome. Something Fishy, Trapped Wasp, and Not the Bees! sound like cosmetics made for players who enjoy a bit of chaos in their presentation. There are also finishers and weapon skins, including Anchor Drop Rare Finisher Effect and Torture Mace. Mirage Gauntlet being tied to the Zizaran Mirage Event is a neat touch as well, since event rewards always carry a little bragging value.

Cleaner systems behind the style
The update isn't only about buying or unlocking flashier gear. Some practical fixes make the cosmetic system feel less awkward. Bronze and Silver Marionette skins now hide base armour, which helps if you want the skin to read properly instead of fighting with your equipped items. Tracking items also get attention, with the Pilfering Ring and Tracking Scroll of Crafting updated, while the Tracking Scroll of Headhunting now follows more bosses. For players juggling builds, cosmetics, stash plans, and path of exile 2 currency across a league, those small improvements help the whole wardrobe feel less like a side menu and more like part of the game.
